A critical case from Malacca to Singapore where precise diagnosis and timely transfer turned a coma into recovery.
In June 2023, a Singaporean patient Miss Vanessa at her 40 years who suffered from mental confusion and fainted in Malacca, she was admitted into local hospital for treatment. After a few rounds of medical check up, the patient was diagnosed as brain stroke, remaining comas, she was hospitalised relying on ventilator for life maintenance for 10 days, no surgical plan could be worked out by the doctors in Malacca hospital.
While receiving helping call from the patient’s sister, We worked with Singapore SGH Patient Liaison Department Ms Tina to connect SGH neurosurgeon specialist with Malacca hospital specialist with files transfer. We managed to allocate an ICU ward for the patient to admit into SGH within 24 hours.
With Canacare Singapore’s assistance, the comas patient Vanessa was transferred from Malacca Hospital to SGH within 24 hours by a medical condition approved ambulance. Her medical condition was finally confirmed as brain tumour cancer. With different medical treatment, she was awake within 3 days after admission into SGH, surgical procedure was executed for removal of a brain tumour afterwards.
This case demonstrates how precise treatment can significantly enhance a patient’s chance of survival.
